Why We Get Sick – Missing the Mark Dr. Kluane Spake www.kluane.org
The Greek word sin, “harmateria,” is originally an archery term that meant to “miss the mark.” That was what they said when someone did not hit the target bull's eye. Missing the mark causes us to believe that we are "less then" or "don't measure up." Those negative thoughts cause us to wind up in failure and disappointment. Do you know what happens when you miss the mark? DEATH and disease is the response within our body when we miss the mark! Missing the mark causes certain negative energies to enter our body and make us sick. Disappointment, fear, anger, and hostility are a result of missing our destiny. Do you see how negative thoughts affect your destiny? Your self-perception actually affects your future! Enough negative energy entering into our cell structure causes our bodies to start decaying and falling apart. Disease causes death. The Apostle Paul showed us the correct response when he said, “I PRESS to the MARK... to the high calling of Christ Jesus.” Our body is not able to deal with stressful and unconstructive energies. Our body was not created to be filled with stress. When we permit our thinking to be bombarded with negative belief systems, these harmful responses promote sickness and even death in our bodies. Sin can be intentional or unintentional. The effect is the same. STRESS. Your body was not constructed to tolerate the consequences of SIN. You were created for LOVE and life! People of many civilizations commonly show aggression and are raised to deal with their lives in this manner. Several statistics report that 47% of Americans now depend on stress relieving drugs! The most frequent responses to STRESS are panic, fear, apprehension, and adrenalin. We have learned to handle stress in predictable and pre-programmed methods. Fear (panic, adrenalin, stress, and apprehension) is a prevailing force that totally disconnects us from the LIFE that Jesus lived and died to give us. Fear stops us in every way. Fear (panic, adrenalin, stress, and apprehension) keeps us from flowing in trust, confidence, love, security, and peace. In the day of Jesus, Aramaic was the common language of the day. Jesus spoke Aramaic as did those in Palestine before and during His lifetime. (The Hebrew language is a “dialect” of Aramaic.) We find in the Aramaic translations (Pashetta) of the New Testament a definition of LIFE as “the active presence of love flowing through us.” For too long, believers have been dying to themselves. But, Christians should seek after love and life - not death. LOVE and LIFE cause our mind to become whole. Our body will react in response to life-giving forces of love and life with health and wellbeing. Concentrating on LIFE will activate the response of God within us. Jesus showed us how to "overcome the world." No matter what circumstances happened in His life, He stayed attached to the force of LIFE. He alone can give us HIS ETERNAL LIFE. That’s the only force that we must connect to – every day. How do you respond? Can someone say something that causes you stress? Does the opinion of others really bother you? Often in the past, Christians have said things that caused me great unhappiness, anguish, and sadness. I wondered how so many people could just find me and then get involved in my life – and then ruin it! No doubt about it… it was their fault that I lost my peace. It was them who were mean to me. Sure, I forgave them. But, they hurt me and caused grief in MY life. Somehow, my mind had it turned backwards! The reason we get hurt and feel hurt is inside of us. The other person usually doesn’t even know they caused any problem! What that all means is, my problems really weren’t because of someone else! They were caused by ME and my reactions. If someone can cause me to have sorrowful emotion, then I have a problem that I must deal with IN ME. When you and I allow other people to gain control over our emotions, we give them greater power over us than the Lord. These “mean” people are here to expose an unseen trouble lodged deep within yourself and your belief system. We can try to hide our limitations and cram them deeply within. But, what is REAL within our mind-set is that we give others the POWER to remove us from the love of God. God uses others to reveal to us what we want to blame them for. Difficulties in our life are merely God’s way of keeping us from denial. They expose to us who we really deep on the inside. If we cling to false realities, we cannot demonstrate the Kingdom. God’s perfect love cannot flow through us when we are filled with stress and strife. When Jesus was tempted by the devil (who is the accuser within our selves) in the wilderness, He knew how to respond. If I can be provoked by situations that don’t belong, then I’ve missed the mark. If those situational responses are gone, there the enemy no longer has “GROUND.” Beloved, let us pray to realize what is stress in our lives. What causes us to limit the force of Divine LOVE? Love is not demonstrated by our fear and apprehension. God is love; we are created in His image. Love is who we are now in this lifetime. Love is the maximum power we can release into our world. Be anxious for nothing.
