Articles by Dr. Kluane about the Apostolic ChurchAre There Apostles Today?Acts 3:21 assures us that before Jesus comes again, a reformation and restoration will happen. This promised event will restore truths lost during the Dark Ages.
Apostolic Destiny!
Apostles have the sentence of death in them. They put trust only in the God who raises the DEAD (2 Cor. 1:9). The apostles were doomed to die (1 Cor. 4:9). They were often martyrs, though in most cases it was not a physical death, but rather a total loss or struggle of reputation. The Apostles were often defamed, made the offscouring (scraps of food on a dirty plate and the dirt on the floor) of the world (1 Cor. 4:13).
An Out of Body Experience
Many leaders need an “Out of Body Experience.” That is – they need to get out of their own little myopic church body – and comprehend the Corporate Body experience!
Apostolic Government Hierarchical governmental structures have long been the customary method of setting up church roles of command and management. (See pyramid diagram.) We replicate this type of government mainly because it is all that we have ever known. This model probably started with the step pyramid government in ancient Egypt.
People in churches and denominations like all different flavors. Would you pull up a nearby stool and let's talk about what various kinds of ice cream tastes we have in common... Every time we go up to the ice cream vendor and ask for a scoop we have to think about how much we want - a single scoop or a double. And sometimes we may even want to try a triple scoop - one of each of our favorite flavors.
Jacob's LadderThat’s what happened to Jacob when he dreamed about the LADDER that connected earth and heaven. We all know about ladders. Many of us have been really busy trying to climb up the proverbial corporate church ladder and become successful. Close Encounters of the Third Kind The movie classic “Close Encounters of the Third Kind” was an enormously successful blockbuster. The opening scenes consisted of several seemingly unconnected events, which through music, images, and dialogue provided clues which ultimately (and surprisingly) culminated at the end of the film. Most of the film's posters declared: "We are not alone."
EAT MEAT!Paul told the Corinthians that because they were carnal (babes, natural people) he fed them with milk and not with solid food (1 Cor. 3:1-2). The Holy Spirit teaches comparing spiritual things with spiritual (combine spiritual truths with spiritual language). Spiritual people discern and judge all things; they have the mind of Christ (the Anointed One, 1 Cor. 2:13-15).
